On the 3,000 square metre ecological land, construction on only 500 square yard is allowed. In the Master Plan 2025, the JDA had marked huge chunks of land as ecological area.

JAIPUR: The Jaipur Development Authority (JDA) sealed 14 towers (residential buildings) of a private Jaipur Development Authority society on Thursday. The developer was allegedly carrying out construction in ecological zone.

According to officials, a private builder was developing a housing colony on Agra Road near Meena Paldi. “The khasra on which these towers were built falls under ecological zone in the Master Plan 2025. The builder is developing a housing scheme on 16 bighas of land. Fourteen buildings that were sealed were G+3.” said a JDA official.

On the 3,000 square metre ecological land, construction on only 500 square yard is allowed. In the Master Plan 2025, the JDA had marked huge chunks of land as ecological area.

“There are many colonies that fall under the ecological zone as per Master Plan 2025 and majority of them are situated on Agra Road. The ecological area of the new master plan was increased as compared to the previous plan and this is a major hurdle in the way of JDA regularizing these colonies,” the official said.

Despite being declared an eco-sensitive zone there was no respite for the fragile area. Large-scale illegal construction has come up here, threatening the ecology. As per JDA records, nearly 312 colonies have been fully developed in the ecological zone.
