Common Online RERA For All States

The Centre will soon come up with a common online platform for the RERA of all states and Union Territories to encourage the exchange of views on the platform

A common online platform for the Real Estate Regulatory Authority (RERA) of all states and Union Territories (UTs) is soon to become a reality. This will encourage the home buyers, builders and authorities to exchange their views on the platform. Housing and Urban Affairs Secretary Durga Shanker Mishra while announcing the new plan said that this move will make the real estate law more strong.

He said that the government is working to introduce a common platform where RERA of all states and Union Territories can exchange their views. The government had introduced Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) to achieve the aim of Housing for All by the year 2022. The homebuyers will not be able to avail Credit Linked Subsidy Scheme (CLSS) if the real estate project is not registered under RERA.

Mishra explained that any state RERA can study an order of other states in a particular matter with the help of the online platform. Homebuyers and builders are free to express their views on the issue. While speaking about the online platform, Mishra did not forget to mention the number of real estate projects registered under RERA.

More than 42,000 projects and over 32,000 real estate agents have been registered under RERA. PMAY (U), AMRUT and Smart Cities Mission have completed three years since its inception. Housing and Urban Affairs Minister Hardeep Singh Puri said that the implementation of the central real estate law has made a huge difference. While all the states and Union Territories have notified RERA, West Bengal has notified its own real estate regulator – Housing and Industrial Regulation Act, 2017 (HIRA).
