In simple words, vacation homes refer to properties that are owned by individuals and are rented out to travellers or tourists for recreational purposes such as during vacations. 1. Agreement

One of the most important things that every tenant of a vacation homes needs to make sure is that they read the agreement or the contract document of their stay in the property. As most of the important rules and information are listed in this document such as utility bills, internet services, cable, food and others, the tenant must make sure that they have paid ample of attention to these details so that they know what they are paying for.

2. Deposit

When renting a vacation home for a few days, sometimes the tenant may have to pay a security deposit for renting the property. Thus, tenants must make sure that they have read the terms and conditions carefully regarding this security deposit and also make sure that they know when and how they will get this security deposit back. Tenants should make the payment of the security deposit in cheque rather than in cash.

3. Housekeeping Services

Before renting the vacation home, the tenant must make sure that there will be regular housekeeping services available in the property. This is important because in some cases, after renting a vacation home, there may not be housekeeping services coming in daily as a result of which the tenants need to take the responsibility to keep the property clean even on the day they will be leaving the house, else a significant amount of money may be deducted from the security deposit. Therefore to avoid any hassles later, it is important to know if housekeeping services will be available or not.

A very important thing that tenants need to keep in mind before starting to live in the vacation home is that on the first day of entering the vacation home, they must click a photograph of the property so that they have a record of how the property was handed over to them. This also minimises the chance of their security deposit from being deducted in case the owner of the property refuses to hand over the entire amount of the deposit or accuses the tenant of damaging any property that was already damaged.

5. Location

The location of the property should be such that the tenant can enjoy the peaceful ambience of the neighbourhood amidst nature and at the same time have the comfort to walk to the nearest recreational centres. As vacation homes promise to offer an ideal experience to its tenants, thus it must be kept in mind that the property is located in such a place that it is close to both a green landscape or the sea as well as to the nearest market place or tourist attraction.
