“For lands required for Mysuru Road-Kengeri, Nagasandra-BIEC and Yelachenahalli-Anjanapura corridors, Karnataka Industrial Area Development Board (KIADB) has to fix compensation,” saida BMRCL newsletter.

Metro’s Phase 2 projects have run into rough weather, mainly due to land acquisition issues. The high court recently stayed acquisition of NICE land for the RV Road-Bommasandra corridor.

“For lands required for Mysuru Road-Kengeri, Nagasandra-BIEC and Yelachenahalli-Anjanapura corridors, Karnataka Industrial Area Development Board (KIADB) has to fix compensation,” saida BMRCL newsletter.

For forest land in Kadugodi for the Whitefield depot, the ministry of forest and environment has given Stage I clearance. “The ministry informed BMRCL to get compensatory afforestation land declared as reserve or protected forest before it gives Stage II clearance,” it said.

For land at UM Kaval forest required for Anjanapura depot, Stage I approval for diversion of 0.7 hectares of forest land has been given while Stage II clearance is awaited.

The underground section of Gottigere-Nagawara corridor, too, faces delay. “At Langford Town, a board of officers has been constituted by the local military authority (LMA) for land required for Langford station. The final proceedings are yet to be signed,” the release said.

For Vellara Junction station, acquisition of the remaining church land (3,797.3 sq m) on a permanent basis is in progress through KIADB. It was originally proposed for temporary acquisition. LMA had raised objection to the compensation paid to the church for the land acquired earlier.”

BMRCL said it has requested the Wakf Board to hand over Eidgah-e-Jaded land near Tannery Road to launch a shaft after vacating the school building and shops by providing them alternative accommodation.

As for Cantonment Metro station, there is an ongoing dispute over ownership of Industrial Training Institute for Differently Abled Children, constructed on BBMP land. BMRCL said compensation will be paid after ascertaining whether the church authority or NGO running the institute is the rightful owner of the building.
