The district administration has taken possession of 26 hectares for Jewar airport project in the villages of Kishorpur, Parohi and Ranhera this week. So far, the administration has 84% of the land required for the first phase of the airport.

Of the total land taken possession of this week, 11 hectares are in Kishorpur, nine hectares are in Parohi and about six are in Ranhera.

“We have already acquired 84% of the total land and another 50 hectares will be acquired by Monday. Most of the acquisition process and payments will be completed this week. We will also make most of the payments that need to be done through the tribunal,” said Abhay Kumar Singh, deputy collector and nodal officer for the project.

Farmers who have not yet taken the compensation amount are being paid through the tribunal. On Monday, another 50 hectares will be acquired in Rohi and Dayanatpur.

According to officials, 99% of the land required for the first phase will be acquired by January 10.

“We are estimating that by January 10, we should be able to complete about 99% acquisition and will be left with only a handful cases where litigation is involved. Once acquisition is done, we will start work on the rehabilitation of villagers,” said Singh.
